Stock-Height & Mild Use
Common GX 550 factory-style and mild upgrade setups include:
18×7.5 w/ 265/70R18 (Overtrail-style)
20×7.5 w/ 265/55R20
22×7.5 w/ 265/50R22 (street-focused)
These keep offsets close to OEM to preserve steering feel and clear the large factory brakes.
Overland & All-Terrain
For owners prioritizing off-pavement use and a more aggressive look, popular upgrade patterns include:
17×8.5 w/ 265/70R17 or 285/70R17*
18×8.5 w/ 275/65R18 or 285/65R18*
20×9 w/ 285/55R20*
*These setups often require carefully chosen positive offsets and, in some cases, minor trimming or alignment tweaks. Our fitment notes will call this out where applicable.
Lifted & Aggressive Stance
On properly lifted and well set up GX 550 builds, more aggressive combinations are possible, such as:
17×8.5 or 17×9 w/ 35×11.50R17 or 35×12.50R17*
18×9 w/ 295/70R18*
20×9 w/ 295/60R20*
Because the GX 550 is very sensitive to offset, scrub radius, and brake clearance, we strongly recommend using our Search By Vehicle tool and following our verified fitment ranges rather than choosing width/offset blindly.
Note: The Lexus GX 550 is more finicky than many other 6×139.7 platforms. Small changes in offset can affect brake clearance, fender rub, and steering feel. The combinations above are common patterns, but final fitment should always follow our verified notes and, when in doubt, a Fitment Specialist.
